PR No. 215 Islamabad: December 22, 2015

President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized that jihad against corruption is need of the hour because corruption has eroded the foundations of Pakistan. The President called upon the youth to wage struggle against corruption at every level and do their utmost to eradicate this curse adding that if this was not done then our efforts to set up a vibrant society would be wasted.

The President said this while addressing a Seminar on Quaid-e-Azam organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) as part of week-long commemoration of Quaid-e-Azam’s birth anniversary here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.

The President stated that we can put the country on the path to progress if we do not despair and continue our struggle in the light of Quaid-e-Azam’s teachings adding that by following into the footstep of our founding father we can serve the homeland in a better way. The President called upon the people to reaffirm their resolve to fulfill our national objectives in the light of guidelines laid by Quaid-e-Azam.

The President stated that the purpose of commemorating special occasions is to learn from the philosophy and struggle of our leaders waged by them in very adverse circumstances when Muslims of the subcontinent were in despair and had lost all hope for the better. The President said that in such testing time, the Quaid-e-Azam through his charismatic leadership generated zeal and zest in Muslims and became successful in carving out a separate homeland through a peaceful and democratic struggle. “All of this became possible due to steadfastness and clarity of vision of Quai-e-Azam”, remarked the President.

Addressing the youth, the President further said that the Quaid-e-Azam had a captivating personality and despite acquiring education from western institutions he had firm belief in our cultural and religious values. “Self-confidence, dispassionate way of thinking was an integral part of Quaid’s personality and he was always ready where necessary to review any matter at any time. Quaid-e-Azam never lost hope and was always optimistic in the worst of situations and always took decisions dispassionately without being intolerant”, added the President. The President stated that by adopting the vision and traits of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah we can put the country on the path to glory and prosperity adding that emulation of Quaid-e-Azam’s way of politics and sagacity would bring immense dividends.

The President said that every aspect of the life of Quaid-e-Azam is worth emulating by the youth of the country. “Though in a certain political situation Quaid-e-Azam encouraged the political activities of Aligarh students but when Pakistan came into existence then he advised them to focus on acquiring education only and keep themselves abreast of international situation so that when they enter into practical life they are enlightened enough to contribute positively in nation-building.

Minister of State for Federal Education & Professional Training Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, former students of Aligarh University and a large number of youth attended the seminar.
