PR No.287 Na Speaker Meets Russian And Kazakh Speakers Islamabad

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met his Russian and Kazakh counterparts on sidelines of the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) being held in Saint Petersburg, Russia, today. Wide range of matters including enhancing bilateral relations between their respective legislatures was discussed in the meeting.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq while talking to his counterpart Chairman Russian State Duma (National Assembly) Mr. Sergey Naryshkin underlined the need for enhancing parliamentary ties between National Assembly of Pakistan and Russian State Duma. The Speaker said that parliamentarians from either side could potentially contribute towards bringing both the countries more closer. He also paid his gratitude to the Chairman State Duma for arranging parliamentary dialogue on Security issues. He said that Parliamentarians need to discuss for addressing the critical issues of terrorism and extremism which were global threats. He also said that world major players should play their leading role in resolving global disputes.

Chairman State Duma Mr. Sergey Naryshkin said that Russian Duma also desires to strengthen its relations with Pakistani legislature. He congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on his election as the Speaker. He said that terrorism was posing a serious threat to the global peace and security therefore parliamentarians should play their role in finding solutions. He agreed that finding solution for longstanding disputes was imperative for global peace. He apprised the Speaker about formation of Russia-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in Russian State Duma.

Later, Mr. Kabibolla K. Jakupov, Speaker of the Mazhilis (House of Representative), Kazakhstan met Speaker National Assembly. While talking to the Kazakh Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with Kazakhstan and wants to further them through regular interaction between the parliamentarians of both countries and enhanced economic cooperation. He invited Kazakh Speaker to visit Pakistan along with a parliamentary delegation.

Mr. Kabibolla K. Jakupov, Speaker of the Mazhilis thanked Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his sentiments and agreed strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. He said that presently the world and the Central & South Asian region were confronting numerous challenges which needed to be addressed through parliamentary discourse. He also underlined the need for resolution of international conflicts and disputes.
