President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan is confronted with many challenges and in this regard youth has a central role in steering the country toward the path of progress, development and prosperity. The President emphasized upon the youth to equip themselves with knowledge and skills to play a constructive role in nation-building.

The President said this while addressing the 10thConvocation of Riphah International University here at the Convention Centre, Islamabad on Saturday. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Chairman Higher Education Commission was also present on the occasion.

The President stated that the government is making concerted efforts to overcome the challenges of extremism and terrorism. The President said that operation Zarb-e-Azb is in its final stages and called upon the nation to stand by the government and the Armed Forces in order to make it completely successful. The President stated that actions in different areas of the country including Karachi would continue till complete restoration of peace in the country.

The President said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would bring about economic benefits not only for Pakistan but for the whole region. He stated that CPEC is a flagship project and its completion would generate robust economic and business activities around the country thereby strengthening and stabilizing the national economy. The President said that Central Asian States are taking interest in CPEC and are keen to link up with it to reap economic dividends.

The President said that after assuming the office of President of Pakistan he has focused on four important aspects: provision of quality education and healthcare, promotion of ethical values and eradication of corruption. The President urged the youth to attain maximum education adding that quality human resource development is must for the progress of the country. President Mamnoon Hussain stressed that education system should promote national objectives and encourage analysis and research to develop rational approach. The President emphasized upon promotion of female education noting that women have an equally important role to play in the development of the country. The President called upon the female students to excel in their fields and bring laurels for their country. The President advised the teachers and parents to pay attention to character building of the students and children in addition to imparting education in order to make the youth responsible and useful citizens of the country with sound morals. The President also urged the youth to respect their parents and teachers who are instrumental in their academic successes.

The President said that corruption has eroded the foundations of the country. The President stated that many problems of the country can be resolved by eliminating corruption. The President said that the government is committed to eliminate the curse of corruption and in this regard is taking concrete measures. The President noted that there has been no scandal during the tenure of the present government and called upon the youth to spearhead anti-corruption campaign to rid the country of this menace. “It is heartening to observe that the Finance Minister and his team have succeeded in revitalizing and stabilizing the national economy despite adverse conditions and their success has also been acknowledged by International Financial Institutions”, stated the President.

The President noted with appreciation that allied Medical College of Riphah University has earned 5th position in the ranking of HEC. The President commended the role of Riphah University in focusing on character building of the students besides imparting quality education. The President appreciated the humanitarian and welfare work of the students of Riphah University during floods and earthquake in the country.

The President congratulated the graduating students and hoped that they would strive for the betterment and progress of the country. The President also distributed prizes amongst the position holders.
