President Mamnoon Hussain has said that police would have to benefit from new technology to effectively unravel crimes and mete out punishment to the criminals.

The President said this while addressing the delegation of trainee police officers of National Police Academy which called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Thursday.

The President stated that Pakistan is facing threats from anti-state elements and for their elimination the role of police has attained great significance. Addressing the police officers, the President stated that in their profession new situations keep surfacing every day which require them to acquire modern professional skills to successfully meet the challenges.

The President appreciated the immense sacrifices rendered by police personnel and law enforcement agencies in fight against terrorism and extremism. The President stated that in order to promote positive image and build trust among the public police officers will have to serve the people with humility, devotion and be sympathetic in their dealings with them.

The President stated that it is also the responsibility of the police to work for elimination of corruption along with eradicating crimes so that the society could morally become strong. He added that police and law enforcement institutions should ensure the supremacy of law and not be influenced by anyone.

Commandant National Police Academy Muhammad Khalid Qureshi also addressed on the occasion and also presented a commemorative shield to the President.
