PR No.88 Islamabad: November 09, 2015 Pakistan’s Shahzad Muhammad Receives The Commonwealth Youth Worker Award 2015

Shahzad Muhammad from Pakistan, received the Commonwealth Youth Worker Award 2015, in recognition of his outstanding work for youth across the Commonwealth. The Award was conferred on him during a ceremony held at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London on 5 November 2015, says a Press Release received from London here today.

Five outstanding youth workers, one each from the Africa, Caribbean, Pacific, Europe and Asia regions, were recognised for their contribution to the lives of young people. Shahzad, who was selected from Asia, is founder of Pakistan’s Chanan Development Association (CDA), which supports the empowerment of young people and the active rejection of extremism, hate speech and violence against women.

Minister Political at the High Commission represented the High Commissioner at the ceremony. He congratulated Shahzad on this unique honour and appreciated his outstanding work for empowerment of young people.

The theme of this year’s celebrations was Youth Workers Creating Paths to Peace, focusing specifically on youth workers engagement with young people on peace and social cohesion.
