As a gesture of solidarity with the Pakistani brethren, the Peoples Republic of China has extended humanitarian relief assistance to the Government of Pakistan to express solidarity and to mitigate sufferings of the earthquake affectees, that struck northern parts of Pakistan on 26 October 2015, mostly affecting areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Gilgit Baltistan which according to preliminary figures received so far caused 277deaths and left 2026 injured.

The relief consignment mainly included tents, blankets and generators for the earthquake affected families.

On behalf of the Government of China Ambassador Sun Weidong handed over relief consignment to Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Senator Parvez Rasheed along with Chairman NDMA, Major General Asghar Nawaz  at Benazir International Airport , Islamabad today.

The Chinese Ambassador expressed sorrow over the destruction and loss of lives caused by the earthquake.  He also appreciated the Government of Pakistan for ensuring immediate response and provision of timely relief assistance to the earthquake affectees and reiterated the resolve of his government to stand by the people of Pakistan.

Senator Parvez Rasheed thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the support and response from the Chinese Government for the distressed affectees of earthquake. Talking to media he said that Pakistan and China have close and brotherly relations which are time tested and have always stood by each other in times of trial. We have shared our grief and joys. The Chinese people and the Government have once again demonstrated their compassion for the people of Pakistan and their commitment to stand alongside the Pakistani nation at a time when it was struck by a natural calamity.

Chairman NDMA also appreciated the gesture and thanked the Peoples Republic of China for the humanitarian  assistance rendered in hour of need.
