Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called on President Mamnoon Hussain at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday and discussed matters regarding relief and rehabilitation of earthquake affectees, overall law and order and economic situation in the country and operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in the morning for a meeting with the President and exchanged views on matters of national importance. The Prime Minister briefed the President on policies and decisions of the Government on different issues.

The two expressed satisfaction over the efforts being made by the Government for rehabilitation of earthquake affectees and expressed their determination to help the earthquake victims by mobilizing all available resources.

The President complimented the Prime Minister and his economic team for significant improvement in national economic indicators and hoped that the initiatives of the Government will revitalize the national economy and improve the standard of life of the people. They reaffirmed that the Government will continue to lay greater emphasis on promoting the health and education sectors for welfare of the people.

The two reviewed the ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ operation and the law and order situation in Karachi and expressed satisfaction at the successes achieved and resolved that the operation would continue till complete elimination of terrorism and lawlessness from the country.

The Prime Minister also briefed the President on his recent visit to USA and his meeting with President Obama. They discussed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to have friendly relations with all the neighbouring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.

The President and the Prime Minister noted that work on different projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is proceeding at a satisfactory pace and hoped that successful completion of the CPEC will usher in an era of unprecedented development and prosperity not only in Pakistan but in the entire region.

Mr. Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and Dr. Asif Kirmani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs were also present during the meeting.
