The Ministry of Commerce has completed the two-day process of interviews for the selection of trade officers for Pakistan’s missions abroad through Special Selection Board (SSB). Interviews of 62 candidates were conducted by the SSB, who passed the written test conducted by an independent organization, Lahore University of Management and Sciences (LUMS). The written test for the selection of trade officers was held in May this year and the result was announced on 15th October. A total of 264 candidates both from public and private sectors appeared in the written test on 24th.

Officers from different services groups which included Commerce and Trade Group, Pakistan Administrative Service, Customs and Excise Group, Inland Revenue Service, Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service and persons from private sector with the relevant experience passed the written test and appeared in the interview before the SSB.

Minister for Commerce, Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan added that the selection of trade officers is made through a rigorous process of written test and interview by a high-level panel. He added that the selection is conducted in a transparent manner and the trade officers will be recruited purely on merit based upon the laid down criteria.
