Federal Minister Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal today directed for speeding up the pace of work on projects and initiatives started by Planning Commission of Pakistan in the last two and half years to move towards realization of goals envisaged in Vision-2025 and pledges made in PML-N manifesto. All projects should conform to highest standards of transparency. Ahsan Iqbal made these remarks while chairing a review meeting of Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform’s projects. He stated, “Cost rationalization should be ensured while designing and executing the projects to save precious national resources. Corrective measures should be made well in time to avoid delays While reviewing the progress on various projects, Federal Minister observed that Planning Commission is being converted into a development think tank that would produce research to assess the needs of new age and suggest ways and means to deal with the emerging challenges. He also directed for synergizing the efforts of various departments and harnessing the resources outside government to achieve the desired goals. Minister noted that all sections and wings should have clear mission and objectives to discharge their responsibilities in an efficient and smooth way. An integrated and coherent approach should be made to achieve the targets rather than working in silos. About China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ahsan Iqbal said that for making this fate-changer project, awareness campaign should be speed up to counter baseless propaganda.  Federal Minister Planning & Development also directed for integrating IT infrastructure in Planning Commission for its optimal utilization for development agenda of ministry and felt that this would increase the capability of the system to deliver efficiently.   We should harness resources and establish partnership with the academia to get the maximum results of our initiatives. He also directed for developing Centre of Excellence on Project Management into centre of excellence for developing best project management practices and said universities can be made partner in this project.
