PR No.124 PAKISTANI STALL ATTRACTS ALL AT COMMONWEALTH FAIR Islamabad

With its traditional handicrafts, clothes and exotic cuisine, the spectacular
Pakistani Stall turned out to be a huge attraction for the visitors at the Commonwealth Fair 2016. The Stall presented a beautiful mosaic of the cultural
richness and diversity of Pakistan by showcasing a variety of hand embroidered
shawls, bags, cushion covers, throws, bangles, henna, caps and silk coats.
Pakistani cuisine, especially, the rice dish ‘Biryani’, with its exquisite
taste, aroma and presentation, was a culinary delight for the food lovers.
The Annual Commonwealth Fair was organized by Commonwealth Countries League (CCL), to raise funds for the Commonwealth Girls Education Fund (CGEF), and was held at Kensington Town Hall, London on 12 November 2016.The occasion provided the visitors with a great experience of Pakistani culture
from food to craft and from clothing to much more.
Begum High Commissioner, Mrs. Sadaf Abbas, along with the ladies of Pakistan
High Commission introduced the visitors to the beautiful handicrafts made by Pakistani women. She also presented a traditional shawl to Mrs Elizabeth Rutherford, Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, who visited
the Pakistani Stall. The Mayor appreciated the beauty and diversity of the Stall.
H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas, High Commissioner for Pakistan to the UK, commended the efforts of the ladies for actively promoting Pakistan’s culture and traditional
products through participation in local community events.
The proceeds of the Pakistani Stall were donated to the CGEF.
