While representing Pakistan in an International Conference at Jordan, Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh highlighted the Government’s resolution for taking every possible measure regarding treatment and prevention of Thalassemia Disease. This conference was organized by Thalassemia International Federal in collaboration with Jordanian Thalassemia & Hemophilia Society and Ministry of Health of Jordan. Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh said that Infectious and neglected tropical diseases kill and weaken most of the poorest people and Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal dealing with all the key factors involving in ill-health and also taking maximum measures to enable the vulnerable persons getting rid of this cruel circle. MD PBM told the participants that Pakistan Thalassemia Centre has been accommodating poor thalassemia patients from all over the country including remote areas and 28% of the total thalassemia patients in Pakistan have been provided free medical treatment and medicines by PBM so far.  Managing Director also demonstrated his commitment for the exact calculation of thalassemia patients in upcoming census and introduction of pre-marital blood screening bill in Parliament. Earlier, in his welcome note, president Thalassemia International Federation Panos Englezos appreciated MD PBM for introducing state-of-the-art medical and diagnostic facilities to the poor thalassemia patients in Pakistan Thalassemia Centre.
