President Mamnoon Hussain has directed that a comprehensive strategy should be pursued to provide education to the illiterate children of poorer segments of society and make them financially stable.

The President said this while talking to Minister of State for Federal Education Engr. Baligh-ur-Rehman who called on him along with Chairperson National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) Razina Alam at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday. They also presented the annual report of NCHD to President Mamnoon Hussain.

The President commended the services of NCHD for increasing literacy rate and said that remuneration of the teachers serving in rural areas should be equal to other government employees so that their needs are met and quality of education is improved. “For this reason, the relevant departments should be directed to provide all necessary facilities to the teachers in line with the decisions of the Government of Pakistan”, added the President.

President Mamnoon Hussain praised the efforts of NCHD for providing education to children in jails and illiterate adults and said that education and training of the students done in conformity with cultural values is more effective.
