United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Pakistan, Mr. Neil Buhne called on the Federal Minister for Human Rights Senator Kamran Michael here in Islamabad on Thursday.

He remained with the minister for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the issues related to the promotion and protections of human rights in Pakistan. Minister on the occasion acknowledged his support and assistance for socio-economic development in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister welcomed the distinguished guest and highlighted the steps underway for ensuring the protection of human rights in Pakistan and said that district level committees are being formed for the promotion and protection of human rights.

Neil Buhne, UN Representative congratulated the government of Pakistan on the recent legislation for the protection of women and appreciated the endeavors of incumbent government for the promotion and protection of human rights including the rights of women, child protection and minorities in the country and assured his full support in this regard.
