Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has said that the present government is taking steps for the promotion of sports in the country.

He was addressing a ceremony held regarding National Wheelchair Users Cricket Tournament 2016 in Sports Complex, Islamabad on Wednesday.

Disabled Welfare Association, Saaya Association and Milestone Society for the Special Persons are jointly organizing National Wheelchair Users Cricket Tournament in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board. Over 200 disabled players will participate in the three-day Wheelchair Users Cricket Tournament.

The Federal Minister emphasized the need for utilizing the capabilities of disabled people and making them useful citizens of Pakistan.

The Federal Minister assured that a fund will be created forever for the Wheelchair Users players, adding that government will fully support disabled players.

Riaz Pirzada noted that terrorism inflicted harm to sports but the present government took steps for the restoration of sports in the country.

The Minister congratulated the organizers of the tournament and assured full cooperation in organizing such sports competitions in future.

He said the competition will promote healthy culture and give self-confidence to the participating players.
