PR No.269 VISIT OF SAPM TO CHINA, 25-26 OCTOBER 2016 Islamabad

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, paid an official visit to Beijing on 25-26 October, 2016. He met with Chinese Foreign Minister Mr. Wang Yi today.

 

Both sides held detailed discussions on the entire range of bilateral relations between Pakistan and China. These included: CPEC, economic cooperation, defence, counter-terrorism, SCO, culture, education and people to people contacts. Cooperation in multilateral forums including in the UN was also discussed. The Pakistan side also apprised China about Pakistan’s strong credentials for its membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

 

The SAPM and his Chinese counterpart also exchanged views on regional and global issues including Kashmir, Afghanistan and South China Sea. Mr. Fatemi briefed the Foreign Minister about the grave human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

 

The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in all areas for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
