Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated breast cancer centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Science(PIMS) today here in Islamabad .

While addressing the ceremony, the minister said that government has provided funds to establish a state of the art cancer hospital in Islamabad, adding ‘it is priority of the government to provide best health care facilities to the people of Pakistan. The minister stated, this is the first cancer centre in Pakistan which will provide modern apparatus and state of the art treatment facilities to the common man. This will not only help to diagnose the disease but will also ensure proper cure through timely treatment, said the minister.

Ahsan Iqbal further maintained that quite unfortunately Pakistan falls among countries where breast cancer is spreading rapidly. Women’s health is a major concern for the government and utmost efforts are being carried to improve their health conditions for secure future. He said that there was a strong need to organize awareness campaigns in the society. Educational institutions can play vital role especially in the rural areas.

He concluded that government is making efforts to make PIMS an exemplary hospital. Minister also led awareness walk about the breast cancer.
