Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman Prime Minister Sustainable Development Goals Program has chaired a meeting of steering committee on SDGs today at Islamabad.

The meeting discussed implementation of PM’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals Programme in order to provide basic facilities including clean drinking water, sanitation, and electricity supply.

The minister has said that it was the vision of the PM and that the development programme should not be politicised as it had no links with the parliamentarians and was purely a development package with clear focus on addressing basic needs of the common man.

The Minister has said that he said discussed the implementation of PM SDG programm at length with the provinces and especially with the Sindh government at length in his recent visit.

The minister has directed the concerned authorities to spped up the availability of funds for various development schemes. The Meeting was attended by MNA Capt. Safdar and senior officers of various ministries. the minister has said that Pakistan is the first country to adopt the UN SDGs ,replacing the previous MDGs. The minister has said that the PM has highlighted the importance of SDGs and has shown his resolve and committment in his recent address to UN Summit.
The implementation of Prime Minister’s Sustainable Development Goals Programme or the Wazeer-e-Azam Qaumi Taraqiati Programme had been approved by the cabinet in its meeting on August 31, 2016.
