Ambassador of Pakistan, Asif Durrani made a courtesy call on President of Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS), Dr. Seyed Mohammad Kazem Sajjadpour at his office in Tehran. While welcoming the ambassador, the IPIS President expressed warm sentiments for the people and government of Pakistan and recalled his recent visit to Pakistan where he addressed various think tanks in Islamabad and Karachi. Various issues of mutual interest including peace and security in the region were discussed. Ambassador Durrrani briefed Dr. Sajjadpour on the Kashmir dispute and its unlawful occupation by India and denial to the Kashmiri people their right to self determination as enshrined in the UN resolutions on Kashmir since 1948. The recent events of brutalities committed by the Indian Security Forces in occupied Kashmir which resulted in the killing of more than 150 innocent Kashmiris during the last one hundred days were also discussed in the meeting.  Mr.  Sajjadpour was also informed about the mock drama played by India in the name of “surgical strikes”. Ambassador Durrani also discussed the possibilities of closer interaction between the think tanks of the two countries. Mr. Sajjadpour lauded Pakistan’s efforts in the field of policy-related research work and desired that closer linkages between the think tanks of the two countries would help in projecting various issues in their right perspective, says a press release received here today from Tehran.
