Federal Minister for Human Rights Kamran Michael has said that international community should come forward and raise its voice against the violation of human rights and atrocities of India in Occupied Kashmir.  He said that district level committees are being formed for the promotion and protection of human rights thought the country. He said through comprehensive policy steps have been taken for the protection of human rights in Pakistan.

 

He expressed these views during the separate meetings with the German Ambassador  Ina Lepel and Ambassador of the Netherlands, Mrs. Jeannette Seppen here in Islamabad on Wednesday. The distinguished guests remained with the minister for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the violation of human rights in Indian held Kashmir. Matters related to the promotion and protections of human rights in Pakistan were also came under discussion.

 

Talking to the ambassadors, the minister said the situation of human rights is really very deploring in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. The people of IHK have been sacrificing their lives for the attainment of the Plebiscite which has been guaranteed by the UNSC and which is the fundamental right of Kashmiri people. He said the people of Kashmir are denied to this fundamental right and called upon the international community to take immediate and appropriate steps to redress their protracted grievances. He said we fully support the Freedom movement of the people of IHK adding that we will continue our political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir. Minister urged the international community to take notice of the human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir. He said Pakistan would continue political, diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris.

 

During the meeting, minister said that government of Pakistan wanted to strengthen its relations with European Union regarding Human rights. He said that Award of GSP Plus status shows the confidence of international markets in the excellent quality and standard of Pakistani products adding that this status would enable Pakistan to export more products to the international markets. The minister also highlighted the steps underway for ensuring the protection of human rights in Pakistan at grass root level.  He said that district level committees are being formed for the promotion and protection of human rights adding that we are working on it with the elected members, district administration and representatives of civil society in this regard.

 

Both the Ambassadors appreciated the endeavors of government for the promotion and protection of human rights in Pakistan and assured their full support in this regard.
