President Mamnoon Hussain has underscored the need for proactive diplomacy to draw the attention of the world toward gross human rights violations and atrocities being committed by Indian security forces against innocent Kashmiris in the occupied Kashmir.

The President said this while talking to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Tuesday.

 

The President called for actively pursuing the Kashmir cause at various international forums and express Pakistan’s concern about the alarming situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir in the backdrop of fundamental rights violations and extra-judicial killings by Indian forces. President Mamnoon Hussain hoped that the parliamentarians recently appointed as special envoys will effectively highlight the brutalities by Indian security forces in Jammu & Kashmir and will garner international support for the right of self-determination for the people of occupied Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

 

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi briefed the President about international issues with particular reference to the regional situation.
