PR No. 102 Sudan reiterates support to the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir Islamabad: September 18, 2016.

Expressing concern on the situation in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK), Sudan has reiterated its support to right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. Sudanese Foreign Minister Prof. Ibrahim Ghandoor stated this in a meeting with Adviser on Foreign Affairs Mr. Sartaj Aziz, held today on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of NAM in Margarita Island, Venezuela.

Appreciating brotherly and cordial relations that exist between Pakistan and Sudan, the two leaders agreed to inject a strong economic content into this relationship by enhancing bilateral trade and investment. Foreign Minister Ghandoor sought Pakistani investment and expertise for Sudan’s agriculture sector. They also decided to hold the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) at an early date. They expressed satisfaction at the Bilateral Political Consultations held this May in Islamabad, and agreed that this consultation mechanism offers useful platform to discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations and should be continued on regular basis in the future.

Pakistan and Sudan maintain active cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral forums. The two sides agreed to continue this cooperation in the future.
