PR No. 30 Planning Commission initiates debate on Vision 2025: Islamabad: September 2, 2016

Minister Planning, Development and Reform Prof Ahsan Iqbal said that Vision 2025 Parliamentary Debate is first of its kind which is being hosted by the Federal government. It will help to initiate a debate amongst youth to promote understanding of development process in order to channelize their potential towards Pakistan’s journey of growth and prosperity’

Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan is making headways in all sectors despite difficulties and nefarious designs of the anti-country elements, and it is a must that the despondency should also be shunned, and every Pakistani must adopt ‘I am rising Pakistan’ as our new motto.”We must work harder, better and smarter to secure competitiveness in all fields, which is key to sustained growth. He expressed these views while addressing opening ceremony of the Vision 2025 debate contest here in Islamabad . Ministry of Planning , Development & Reform with the Collaboration of HEC organized a four days Debate Contest scheduled from 2-5 September 2016 . The purpose behind the event is to initiate a debate among youth of the country on Pakistan Vision 2025 to evolve the socio -economic thought process which can steer Pakistan towards greater development and growth . Minister said that Vision 2025 aims to transform Pakistan into an Asian Tiger and put it among top 25 economies by 2025.” I believe it is very important to ‘, said by the minister

“The Pakistan Vision 2025 Debate is set up to provide a platform to rational minds of the country in order to engage them in a constructive debate on how we can harness our efforts as a nation to overcome the socioeconomic and political challenges faced by our country,” he said. While talking about the Vision 2025, Prof Ahsan Iqbal said the document was outlined after extensive consultations with all the stakeholders, and the framework had seven pillars and five enablers to an equitable and sustainable progress of the country.

He was of the considered opinion that since there existed no roadmap for the long-term development in past, we are facing number of challenges. If we want to succeed, we must have political stability, peace and continuity of policies. If the present pace of progress continued along with the stability, Pakistan will be another South Korea and Malaysia,” he believed, adding that the present Pakistan was far better than what it was in 2013, when the international media was portraying Pakistan as the most dangerous country of the world, and now it had become one of the best investment destinations and emerging economies of the world.

He also talked about divergent issues confronting the nation, and said divergent crises had been successfully handled, while the rest were being dealt with in all earnestness. He compared Pakistan of the early decades to the present one, and observed that today it was far ahead in many sectors. It is high time that the all of us must highlight the positive image of our country by adopting ‘I am rising Pakistan’ and becoming brand ambassadors so that the country’s true picture is presented to the world,” he said.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the government recognized the immense potential of well-educated and talented youth to fulfil the dream of a developed and prosperous Pakistan. Addressing the event minister said that the youth of Pakistan is very talented and despite very limited resources, they are performing well in all fields including information technology and research. The minister also urged the need to involve the youth in the mainstream of national so that maximum advantage can be derived from potential and abilities.

He further said that there was a need to create positive thinking among the youth by eliminating desperation and hopelessness. The successful human being had an ability to search ray of hope even in the darkness, he said. Ahsan Iqbal also urged the youth to create leadership skills among themselves as it was essential for a better and bright future.
