PR No. 01 HIGH COMMISSIONER BRIEFS AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL CANADA ON SITUATION IN INDIAN OCCUPIED KASHMIR Islamabad: September 1, 2016

Mr. Tariq Azim Khan, High Commissioner for Pakistan to Canada, today held a meeting with Mr. Alex Neve, Secretary-General, Amnesty International Canada. The High Commissioner gave a detailed briefing on the recent indigenous uprising in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) forces including indiscriminate use of pellet guns to permanently deprive Kashmiri youth of their eyesight to deter them against raising their voice for their right to self-determination, says a press release received here today from Canada.

The High Commissioner urged the Amnesty International Canada and other Human Rights Organizations in Canada to use their good offices to call upon India to take measures to end the precarious human rights violation of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions and wishes of the People of Jammu and Kashmir.
