PR No. 67 PAKISTAN ENGINEERING COUNCIL IS MOVING ON THE RIGHT DIRECTION UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AND WE ARE DRAFTING POLICIES WHICH WILL FACILITATE CREATING JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE REGISTERED ENGINEERS IN NEAR FUTURE Islamabad

The young engineers of Pakistan are a great asset. They must break free the shackles of self-interest and look at the broader national perspective for a prosperous country, said the Federal Minister for Science & Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain. He was addressing the audience of the Annual General Meeting of the Engineers held under the Pakistan Engineering Council.

Pakistan has been bestowed with fertile lands and brilliant human resources. Our fertile land has given birth to intelligent people who have proven to be true patriots over the period of time through their devotion and hard work for the prosperity of the country and its people. He applauded the contribution of eminent Engineers who contributed in the national progress through their expertise in various walks of life.

Rana Tanveer appreciated the efforts of PEC in developing and achieving SMART goals since the Governing Body was elected through free and transparent elections. Some of these efforts included efficient Online Registration of Engineers within 15 days (as compared to minimum 4 months period in past), establishment of International Engineering Academy in very near future, issuance of Supervisory Certificate (creating at least 5000 jobs for Engineers through Entrepreneurship and getting acquainted with construction industry), paid internship program for young engineers through collaboration with private industries and so on.

“It is very encouraging to see that PEC has become the welfare body for the young engineers and its various reforms have started to bear fruits,” said the Federal Minister for Science & Technology. He also added that our youth has full capacity and capability at individual level and all we have to do is to tap it and benefit from it on the international level. He also shared with the audience that since he joined the Ministry of Science & Technology as the federal Minister, it has been very encouraging that our various departments have evolved to the level where they are ready to offer international quality services in engineering field which is as much appreciable as beneficial for the national progress.

While concluding his address, Rana Tanveer Hussain, federal minister for Science & Technology said that as the Minister and Patron of PEC I have been performing my duty to ensure up-gradation and transparent working of the PEC. He said that our government believes and supports free and transparent system and for establishing what we believe in, I as the representative of the Government of Pakistan hereby reiterate that we will keep supporting the system and all the reforms and initiatives that will help in progress and prosperity of the country.
