President Mamnoon Hussain has said that relevant institutions and their personnel need modern techniques to cope with natural disasters and calamities in order to address these issues effectively.

The President said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Surgeon General’s International Conference 2016 organized by the ArmyMedicalCollege and Surgeon General Pakistan.

The President said that National Disaster Management Authority and National Institute of Disaster Management confront such situations more often and bear the foremost responsibility to cope with natural disasters and accidents; it is necessary to arrange regular training programmes for these institutions. President Mamnoon stated that in this regard it is imperative to benefit from the knowledge and practices being applied in the contemporary world.

The President said that Pakistan is among those countries where natural and unnatural disasters occur more frequently. However, it is a matter of great satisfaction that our institutions are capable of ably dealing with such situations and have set good examples of immediate and effective response not only in Pakistan but also abroad. President Mamnoon also lauded the services of the officers of the Army Medical Corps on the occasion.
