General Claudio GRAZANO, Chief of Defence General Staff, Italian Armed Forces called on Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif here in his office in Islamabad.
Exchange of defence delegation, training and capacity building of defence personnel and cooperation in defence equipments were the points discussed in the meeting.
?Defence Minister highlighted the role of Pakistan in Operation Zarb -e-Azb and apprised about the sacrifices endeavoured by the Armed forces and people of Pakistan in the war on terror.”Italy may share the military exposure gained by the Italian side with Pakistani forces who are engaged in war on terror,” he added.
The Minister said that Pakistan will play its positive role in bringing peace & stability in the region. “A peaceful & stable Afghanistan is the need of Pakistan as it effects more than any other country. ”He added.
?The Italian Chief of Defence acknowledged the initiatives taken by Pakistan for bringing peace and stability in the region and assured maximum support in this regard.
Both side agreed that mutual cooperation in defence and defence production may be increased.
It was also apprised that both Italy & Pakistan enjoy close and cordial relations and share common views on many regional and global issues.
??Both side agreed that people to people contact may be increased as it leads to further strengthening of bilateral relations.
They also expressed satisfaction over the performance of Pak-Italy Association for Cooperation.
