Minister of State Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman met with the Belarusian Delegation today.
Minister of State welcomed the delegation and said that such visits are going to strengthen the existing friendly ties between the two countries. Subsequent to the signing of agreement of mutual cooperation on 29th May, 2015, both the countries decided to further cooperate in the sector of education especially in scientific and cultural cooperation based on the principles of equity, mutual benefits and respect.
It is very important to have a direct contact of institutes in both the countries along with the student exchange programs in order to learn about each other’s education system, therefore we would like this program to be started as soon as possible, said the Minister. Moreover both the sides talked about the collaboration in the fields ICT, technical and vocational skills, sports, water management and environment, forestry, and mobile technology etc. First deputy of the ministry of education Belarus Mr. Vadim Bogush said that they would very much like to have joint projects with the Pakistani Universities especially in ICT.
Minister of State told the delegation about the science and technology universities in Pakistan. He told that there are 14000 PhDs inPakistan currently working in different fields, further he added that research and annual publications are increasing every year. Moreover he told them about the establishment of Skills University on the direction of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef. We are also working on Sports University and we would like to have your collaboration in establishing both the universities (Skills and Sports) here in Pakistan, said the Minister.
Invitations from both the sides were extended to visit universities, schools and educational institutes in both the countries. Joint research, attending the issues of recognition of degree/diplomas in both countries, admissions and scholarships for students in both countries was also discussed in the meeting.
Chair of Pakistan (in Urdu) in the Minsk State Linguistic University Belarus and a chair of Belarus in NUML Pakistan (in Belarus) have been decided to be established soon. Minister of State directed the Federal secretary Education Mr. Humanyun Khan to form a committee including members of HEC, NAVTTC, Ministry of Federal Education Pakistan and Ministry of Education Belarus to have close collaboration with each other. He also directed Higher Education Commission to priorities the visits of Belarusian Faculty and students in order to learn from each other in a better way.
In the end both the sides presented tokens of appreciation to each other.
