Professor Craig Calhoun, Director and President London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at PM House today. In recognition of the achievements of the founding father of Pakistan, the director informed that they are considering establishing Jinnah Chair in London School of Economics and Political Science.
Appreciating the overall improved situation in Pakistan, the Director LSE said that they see a newly found hope in Pakistan, which was not there some years back. We see improved security and much better economy in Pakistan. The improved security environment and positive economic indicators have contributed towards building a positive image of Pakistan”, said Professor Craig Calhoun.
The Prime Minister informed the visiting delegation that Pakistan is on the right path of ensuring a great future for our country. We have categorically resolved to take the terrorists head-on and we are successfully eliminating them from every nook and corner of Pakistan”, emphasized the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan’s economy is now stable, which is further growing because of the consolidated efforts our economic team. “Pakistan is proactively pursuing the policy of reaching out to its neighbours in the region for ensuring regional peace and stability. Pakistani government will encourage and welcome partnerships of LSE with local universities”, said the Prime Minister.
Offering to share experiences with Pakistan, Professor Craig Calhoun said that LSE will extend help to parliamentarians. We want to help Pakistan in producing economist leaders for policy making.
Lauding the leadership role of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz in steering the country out of the cissies, the delegation said that law and order situation in the metropolitan city of Karachi has phenomenally improved. The present stability in Pakistan is because of your political acumen, the delegation said to the Prime Minister.
The meeting also discussed in detail to explore the possibilities of students’ exchange and facilitating Pakistani researchers for achieving better academic results. The Prime Minister said that the government will welcome academic programmes offered by LSE which will certainly improve the quality of studies.
