PR No.179 Pakistan Embassy, Berlin Participates In Nowruz Spring Festival – 2016 Islamabad, March 21, 2016

The Embassy of Pakistan, Berlin participated in the annual Nowruz and Spring Festival 2016, organized in coordination with the Museum of Ethnology and partner countries including Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey. The colourful event showcased cultural richness and heritage of these countries. Musicians from the participating countries presented their traditional folk tunes and songs which were very much appreciated by the audience.

The stall set up by the Embassy of Pakistan during the festival depicted richness of Pakistani culture, its diverse landscape, colourful handicrafts and ancient civilization. A Qawali performance by famous Pakistani Qawali group, Sammi Brothers enthralled the audience. There are many admirers of Pakistani mystic poetry and music in Germany.

Ambassador Jauhar Saleem in his remarks felicitated the participating countries on this auspicious occasion and wished them all peace, progress and prosperity in the coming years. While talking to GEO TV, Ambassador Jauhar Saleem said that Pakistan is the birth place of more than 5000 years old Indus Civilization which was a contemporary of the ancientEgyptian and Sumerian civilizations. It is therefore, a country with diverse and rich cultural heritage, which need to be explored.

The event was attended by more than 600 people, mostly from other diplomatic missions, German media personalities, students, scholars, representatives of tourism agencies and artists. The audience was also treated to sumptuous food representing the cuisine of the participating countries.
