PR No.175 Pak Army Fighting Decisive War Against Terrorism In Tribal Areas ……President Islamabad, March 21, 2016

President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on Monday said the Pak Army was fighting a decisive war against terrorism in tribal areas with extreme positive results saying the Army officers and Jawans were rewriting a history of velour and gallantry in the region.

Talking to Pak Army officers and Jawans here at the agency headquarters of South Waziristan Agency, the president paid glowing tribute to sacrifices, successes and achievements of Pakistan Army in war against terror.

This was first ever visit of any President of Pakistan to South Waziristan Agency since the operation was initiated against terrorists in the area. The anti state elements were out to weaken the country through their subversive activities but the evils designs are being foiled by Pak Army, he noted.

He said tribal areas and people had greatly affected by terrorism due to its geographical location near to Afghanistan, adding Pakistan suffered socio-economic losses due to militancy and terrorism.

While condemning recent terrorists’ attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the President said KP province was also targeted by terrorists, adding that the terrorists have no legion but they are enemy of humanity.

He said operation Zarb-e-Azb was initiated as per the spirit of Islam as terrorism is a curse and the operation was launched to wipe of the menace from its roots.

The President emphasized upon the Army troops to take stringent measures for saving their future generation from terrorists. The nation has full confident in Pak Army, he remarked. About the TDPs, the President said they are being compensated and being repatriated to their native areas in dignified manners, adding the civil administration in the tribal agency have been reactivated and for this purpose locals are being inducted in Levis force so that the terrorist may not regroup in the tribal areas.

The President said that corruption has inflicted great loss to the development and imprinted negative impact on the national economy; however, he added the present government is taking solid steps for the revival of economy. About the CPEC, he said it is a mega project that would surely change the destiny of the country in general and all the provinces and FATA in particular thus ushering a new era of economic prosperity and development.

Referring to energy projects, he said the issue of load-shedding would be controlled to a great extent by 2018 on completion of the different power projects. Later, he visited Wana Cadet College and inspected its’ various sections, where he was announced Rs. 5 million for the college.Principal of the cadet college Col Nadeem Irshad briefed the President about thecurriculum and co-curriculum activities of the college.

The President was informed that presently, there were 333 cadets who were obtaining education from the college with 70 percent from FATA.The President in his brief remarks said that the education is imperative to remove all backwardness from the country and emphasized upon the students to concentrate on their education.

Earlier, General Officer Commanding Maj Gen. Khalid Javed gave a detail briefing to the president on security situation in the tribal region.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and high ranking officials of the civil and military administrations received the President upon arrival.
