PR No.58 World Bank Country Director Calls On Finance Minister Islamabad

Country Director, World Bank Patchamuthu Illangovan called on Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Saturday and felicitated him on successful conclusion of the 10thIMF review.

The Minister while sharing with Mr. Illangovan details regarding arrangements for the visit of World Bank President also discussed areas that were likely to come up for discussion during the visit.

The World Bank Country Director said efforts for promoting foreign investment in Pakistan and development of health and education sectors would receive particular attention of the visiting dignitary during discussions. “Aiming high for a prosperous Pakistan” is the World Bank’s outlook for the country. It is in this spirit that visit of President Jim Yong Kim to Pakistan is taking place, Illangovan remarked.

Minister Dar and the World Bank Country Director also discussed matters relating to the DPC-III on growth.

The Minister appreciated the continue cooperation that World Bank was extending for various projects in Pakistan. He hoped that with the visit of World Bank President, this cooperation would be further strengthened.

Mr. Illongovan thanked the Minister for the arrangements being made for the visit of World Bank President who is due to arrive in Islamabad on 9th of February.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Division attended the meeting.
