Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland today with expression of complete solidarity and support for the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for the right of self-determination, says a press release received from Glasgow here today.

A large protest demonstration was held outside the Indian Consulate in Edinburgh to express support and solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. Despite rain and cold weather, a large number of Pakistanis, people from Indian Occupied Kashmir and representatives of various rights groups from across Scotland were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gatherings, Speakers highlighted the various aspects of the Kashmir dispute reminding the world that the voice of the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their self-determination could not be suppressed by force. Speakers reiterated the need for early solution of the long outstanding issue on the agenda of the UN Security Council for a durable peace in the region and called on the Indian government to forthwith stop the gross human rights violations of the Kashmiri people.

A memorandum for the Indian Government was handed over to the representative of the Indian Consulate.

Special Prayers were offered for the success of the Kashmiri peoples struggle and also for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
