PR No. 86 DIRECTOR OXFORD CENTER FOR ISLAMIC STUDIES CALLS ON FEDERAL EDUCATION MINISTER Islamabad

Director Oxford Center for Islamic Studies Mr. Farhan Ahmed Nizami called on the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Engnr. Baligh-ur-Rehman here on Thursday.

Mr. Farhan Ahmed discussed with Honorable Minister, the possibilities of building and strengthening linkages between Oxford University, UK and Pakistani Universities. Appreciating the improvements in the quality and accessibility of education in Pakistan and standard of Higher Education Institutions, he congratulated the Minister on the achievements of the present government.  He also spoke highly of talent of Pakistani students and requested Minister for increase in the grant of scholarships for them to pursue higher studies in Oxford University.  Minister thanked Mr. Farhan for his interest in prospective partnerships between the higher education institutions of the two countries and assured him of his support for this cause.

The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies is a Recognized Independent Centre of the University of Oxford established in 1985 to encourage the scholarly study of Islam and the Islamic world. The Centre also provides a meeting point for the Western and Islamic worlds of learning and contributes in building international academic contacts.
