PR No.6 Pak. MoS Tariq Fatemi meets CAAS VP Cai Fang Islamabad

Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) and Minister of State (MoS), on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi has underlined the need for further enhancing intellectual exchanges and linkages between the academics and researchers of the two countries, says a press release received here today from Beijing, China.

The Minister Fatemi shared these views during his meeting with Cai Fang the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), here today. Both sides also discussed ways and means to evolving an effective mechanism for enhancing regular exchanges of academia and research scholars.

During the meeting Syed Tariq Fatemi outlined the significance of China Pakistan relations in the bilateral, regional and global context. He described the relations as highly valuable, based on total trust and on the trajectory of prosperity and growth. Minister Fatemi said that friendship between the two countries dated back to ancient times and both the ancient civilizations had had multitudes of people-to-people contacts.

Many travelers, religious scholars, poets and philosophers brought together the two cultures which resulted in experiences that were mutually enriching for both civilizations. He said that ever since every single generation had contributed and carried forward that tradition till the present day when deepened cooperation had touched an all time new high.

Minister Fatemi said that growth in the China-Pakistan relationship was a strong factor for peace and stability in the region and beyond and termed the multibillion dollar mega project of CPEC as another chapter in the glorious book of sharing prosperity with neighboring countries.

Cai Fang said that CASS valued the cooperation and communication with the research institutes from the friendly country of Pakistan to intelligently support the construction of One Belt One Road. CASS also hoped that based on Pakistan government’s support, cooperation with Pakistani think tanks and research institutes would be further strengthened and deepened to work out more valuable resolutions for the construction of CPEC and contribute to the understanding of friendship between people from the two countries, he added. He said that China-Pakistan relationship upgrading to an all-weather strategic partnership, had led the bilateral cooperation to a brand new historic period. He also appreciated efforts of the Pakistani government and people for CPEC. Ambassador Masood Khalid also attended the meeting among other participants.

Later this evening, SAPM Tariq Fatemi also visited the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) where he was received by President Lu Shumin and his colleagues who also hosted a dinner in his honour.
