PR No. 204 Condolences On The Sad Demise Of Sahabzada Yaqub Khan Islamabad

The officers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are deeply saddened and grieved to learn of the passing away of SahabzadaYaqub Khan, an illustrious citizen, diplomat and military officer of Pakistan.

The Advisor Mr. Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi have conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.

Mr. Sartaj Aziz and Foreign Secretary Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry visited the House of SahabzadaYaqub Khan in Islamabad today and met with his wife and both sons. They expressed condolence on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family over phone from London, where he is currently accompanying the Prime Minister.

During his outstanding career, SahabzadaYaqub Khan selflessly served Pakistan’s interests at home and abroad including as Foreign Minister and Ambassador in Washington, Moscow and Paris. His services to Pakistan will be long remembered.

The demise of Sahabzada Yaqub Khan is a great loss not only for the Foreign Service of Pakistan but also the entire nation.
