Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired meeting of the Federal Cabinet today.
Cabinet approved the first ever National Security Policy 2022-26.

National Security Advisor Dr. Moeed Yousaf briefed the Cabinet about the salient features of the policy. The Cabinet was apprised that economic security of the citizens is the pivot of the policy that is ultimately linked with the National Security of the Country. It was informed that extensive consultations were undertaken with relevant Federal organizations, Provincial Governments, experts and private sector during policy formulation. Minister for Finance briefed the Cabinet about prices of daily use items. It was informed that SPI recorded an increase of 0.4 % from last week, prices of 5 items decreased while as prices of 23 items remained stable. It was informed that except for oil and tea, prices of all other items are less in Pakistan as compared to other countries in the region. Cabinet was informed that there is adequate stock of daily use items and 30 days stock of Petrol and Diesel. As regards production of Urea, the Cabinet was informed that Urea production increased as compared to last year and there is adequate Urea stock in the country. However, due to high sale price of Urea in the international market Urea from within the country is being smuggled out that has created artificial shortage by profiteers. Cabinet issued directions to take strict legal action against elements involved in smuggling. Cabinet expressed concerns over the rising prices of cement and steel and issued directions to devise a control strategy. Cabinet decided to publish the Parliamentarians’ Directory of Tax Year 2019. Cabinet approved appointment of Directors on the Board of House Building Finance Company Limited (HBFCL). Directors include Mr. Shehzad Naqvi, Ms. Faiza Kapadia, Ms. Yasmin Lari, Mr. Adnan Asdar Ali and Mr. Imran Ahad. Cabinet approved resignation of Mr. Masood Naqvi, Member and Chairman Securities and Exchange Policy Board and approved appointment / designation of Mr. Mehmood Mandviwala as new Member / Chairman. Cabinet approved nomination of eminent economist Dr. Ijaz Nabi on the Monetary and Fiscal Policies Coordination Board. Cabinet accorded in-principle approval of draft Inter Board Coordination Commission Act, 2021. This act is aimed at standardizing examinations, verification of educational documents and to increase coordination among various educational boards in the country. Cabinet approved appointment of Mr. Muhammad Asim as full time Executive Member PEMRA. Cabinet approved constitution of the Joint Investigation Team for investigating the brutal murder of Mr. Nazim Jhokio. The team will comprise of members from Police, Intelligence Agencies, Armed Forces and Civil Armed Forces. Cabinet approved Integration Plan of Ghandara Heritage and Cultural Center with Citizen Club Building F-9 Park. Prime Minister will be the patron-in-chief of the Management Committee while as members would include Minister for Federal Education, Secretary Interior, Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner ICT and 3 members from among prominent personalities. Cabinet approved initiation of extradition of accused Ms. Nazia Shaheen and Shabbar Abbas from Pakistan to Italy. Cabinet approved initiation of extradition of accused Muhammad Usman from Pakistan to UAE. Cabinet approved shifting/transfer of Banking Court-I, Multan to DG Khan as Banking Court, Dera Ghazi Khan in light of Lahore High Court directions to ease the burden on banking courts. Cabinet accorded Ex-Post Facto approval of Implementation Agreement for CPEC’s Rs. 2.2 billion 1.2 MGD water Desalination Plant at Gwadar. Cabinet approved appointment of Dr. Shaista Zeeshan as Executive Member of the National Medical Authority (NMA), Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). Cabinet approved correction in Formulation of 03 Drugs as recommended in 49th DPC of DRAP. Cabinet approved Pakistan’s Rs. 23.3 million assistance to Republic of Cuba in the fight against Coronavirus Pandemic. NDMA will send 10,000 N-95 masks, 50,000 face masks, 10,000 protective suits and 10,000 gowns. Cabinet approved Pakistan Planning and Management Institute (PPMI) Bill, 2021 as Autonomous Organization of the Planning, Development and Special Initiative Division. The bill will be presented before Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases. Cabinet ratified decision taken by Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms in its meeting held on 01-12-2021 regarding Guidelines and Procedures for Procurement of the Services of Short Term Job Specific Consultants in Ministries / Divisions. Cabinet ratified decisions taken by Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases in its meetings held on 16-12-2021 and 17-12-2021
