PAKISTAN CONSULATE JEDDAH CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY Islamabad

Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah celebrated the 70th Anniversary of Independence with national zeal and fervour. The Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Shehryar Akbar Khan raised the Pakistani flag, to mark the day, in front of large number of Pakistani community who had arrived from different part of Jeddah to participate in the event. National Anthem was played while the National Flag was being raised. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy was also present at the occasion, says a press release received here today from Jeddah.

Later addressing the gathering, the Consul General said that this day is a reminder of the heroic struggle undertaken by the Muslims of the Sub-continent under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for a separate homeland where they could live their lives with freedom and dignity. It is my firm belief that with honesty of purpose and single-minded devotion to the national cause we are bound to succeed in our mission of elevating Pakistan to its rightful place in the comity of nations, he added.

The Consul General appreciated the role of Pakistani community in development of Pakistan as well as Saudi Arabia. He said that our community is true representatives of Pakistan and they have earned a good name for themselves as well as Pakistan through their hard work. They act as a bridge of friendship between the two brotherly countries, he added. He gave example of Shah Farman who saved lives of about 14 persons in flood before his martyrdom.

The Consul general also thanked His Royal Majesty King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and the Saudi Government for hosting a large number of Pakistani community and providing them opportunity to play their constructive role in development of both the countries.

Earlier Mr. Saeed Sarwar Head of Chancery read out the message of President of Pakistan and Mr. Shaiq Bhutto (Consul) read out the message of Prime Minister of Pakistan for the occasion. The Consul General, surrounded by children clad in Pakistani dresses and holding Pakistani flags, cut the Cake to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Pakistan. Pakistani children also sang National songs which enthralled the audience.
