Special Assistant to prime minister on Accountability/ Interior Mirza Shahzad akbar said that accountability is most important point in the manifesto of Government and No commission has been made public before the Sugar Commission. He said that the report of the Sugar Commission was made public as per the promise of Prime Minister. ”Prime Minister has said Govt will take action against all the mafias in the country. Honorable prime Minister is taking the personal interest and he himself heading all the meetings regarding price control.“he added While talking to the media shahzad Akbar said the JIT presented the Wheat crisis reprt along with the Sugar Crisis Report and many measures were also recommended on the flour crisis. Now the flour is available at the rate of 860Rs /20kg in the market. Shahzad Akbar said at the press conference. He said that during the PMLN Government, 2018-Ramadan package, wheat was released to the mills at the wheat subsidy rate. He further said that Out of 667 flour mills in Punjab, 149 flour mills were found involved in wheat theft. He said that anti corruption department Punjab has taken the cognizance and recovered 190 million from estimated loss to exchequer amounting 254 million. The anti corruption department is working on more recoveries. Special assistant to prime minster said that around 156 people of the food department are directly or indirectly involved in the wheat crisis, while 60 to 70 government officials are directly involved with the mills. He said that administrative and punitive actions would be taken against the guilty. On sugar Crisis JIT report and & steps action matrix , Barrister Shahzad Akbar said following the report of the Sugar Commission, each institution will take action under its own law. He also said that three major steps have been taken by the Government on sugar inquiry commission Report. The punitive action regarding law enforcement, theft mad tax evasion, reform commission on sugar policy and sugar advisory board. Akbar Said the Government is negotiating with the sugar mills association over the price issue, where sugar mills association claim they have very high cost of production. He further added that there are shortcomings in the sugar policy that are motioned in the report. The new and advanced techniques would help to overcome the issue. He said The JIT report would work as the starting pointing for the Intuitions to take action against the mafias. Shahzad akbar said The NAB Competition commission of Pakistan and FIA would do fresh investigations on corruption cartelization corporate frauds and export issues according to their own laws... The audit report of 5 years is being sent to NAB and NAB can act according to its own laws and take action according to law, Akbar Added SAPM said that State Bank of Pakistan would look into the willful default and they can also send the cases to NAB. He further added the provincial anti corruption departments would submit their report to their respective provincial Governments within the timeline of 90 days. Shahzad Akbar said there was a sugar crisis in 2007to 2009 and competition commission of Pakistan mentioned the cartelization issue and the fine of more than 20 Billions. However the amount of fine was not recovered from the delinquents as the involved cartels took refuge behind the stay order. He said it is norm that after all the reports and investigation the institutions went into stay order. He said But this time Government has assigned the task to Attorney General to persue the litigation at all concerned forums in public interest. Akbar said The only delay in action on inquiry commission report was because of litigation issues and now the Government is taking action according to the direction of court.” He added Regarding stay order on the implementation of the sugar commission report by Sindh High Court the Federal Government very diligently followed the case at every forum and presented the Government point of view over the JIT report. After hearing the government’s stance, the Top court dismissed the restraining order. The Supreme Court of Pakistan allowed the government to take action against the sugar mills. And directed the Sindh and IHC to decide con the petition of the sugar mills within three weeks.
