MESSAGE BY MUHAMMAD USMAN DAR, SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRIME MINISTER ON YOUTH AFFAIRS ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY (WYSD)
Islamabad: July 15, 2020

Youth is our most precious national asset and they undoubtedly hold a significantly important role to play in the country’s development. The present government has launched a historic and unique skills programme i.e. “Hunarmand Pakistan (Skills for All)’’ under the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan; envisioned for imparting skills to our youth. For the first time in the country’s history, this comprehensive programme contains skills training to more than 100000 youth in highly demanded courses including machine learning, artificial intelligence, internet of things, web portal designing and developing digital applications. All these courses, offered free of cost, are targeted towards utilization of the inherent talents of the youth and enabling them for seeking better employment opportunities locally as well as internationally. I will take this opportunity to urge youth that skilled human resource is a prerequisite for attaining proper industrial development in Pakistan. Keeping in view the importance and need of human resource development, the present government has therefore chalked out a comprehensive strategy for imparting skills to all in general and to the youth in particular. The inclusive strategy includes provision of modern training tools to training institutes, redesigning of professional training courses with the help of relevant industry, training of teachers/ instructors in internationally acclaimed institutes, certification of training institutes by international bodies and offering technical and vocational training to students of Madaris alongside religious education. We are also working on establishing facilitation centres across Pakistan to prepare and assist our youth in getting employment opportunities abroad. This will help a great deal in helping Pakistani youth to get jobs in international markets and earn precious foreign exchange reserves for the country. I urge our youth to come forward and benefit from the skills programme launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan under the umbrella of PM’s Kamyab Jawan Programme and equip themselves with modern skills offered through the landmark initiative of our government. I am quite hopeful and optimistic that skilled youth will play a decisive role in the progress, development and financial stability of Pakistan.
