Dr. Asad M. Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the U.S. is currently paying an official visit to Boston, Massachusetts. During his first day of the visit, Ambassador Khan spoke at two prestigious institutions — Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University (BU) and Fletchers School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and interacted with students, scholars, faculty members and opinion makers, says a press release received here today from Washington DC. During the discussion at both institutions, Ambassador Khan gave his perspective on a wide range of issues including Pak-US bilateral relationship and the recent developments in the region with particular focus on the ongoing humanitarian crisis triggered by the actions of BJP-led govt in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. On Pakistan-US relations, Ambassador Khan emphasized the recent developments in the relationship with particular reference to the three summit level meetings between President Trump and Prime Minister Imran Khan during the last few months. He emphasized that we are looking forward to having a long term, sustainable and broad-based relation with the U.S. Ambassador also drew attention of the audience towards the grave humanitarian crisis triggered by the actions of BJP-led govt in Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJK). He apprised the audience regarding the inhuman and unprecedented lockdown imposed in the region for the last 6 months and underlined the importance and urgency of resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions and aspirations of Kashmiri people. The UN Security Council has taken up the Kashmir dispute thrice over the last few months which negates the false Indian claim that the Kashmir dispute is a bilateral dispute, he added. Besides engagements with Academia, the Ambassador also met with Pakistani-American community notables from Boston, New Hampshire and Connecticut Area at a dinner hosted by Prof. Adil Najam. The visit is part of a number of activities planned for the week on account of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
