KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY WAS OBSERVED IN EMBASSY OF PAKISTAN, WASHINGTON D.C.
Islamabad February 06, 2020

Embassy of Pakistan, Washington D.C. organized an event on the occasion of “Kashmir Solidarity Day” to reaffirm Pakistan’s unconditional support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for right to self-determination, says a press release received here today from Washington DC. The guest speakers invited at the event paid tribute to the courageous people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) who remained steadfast in their resolve despite 185 days of lockdown, curfew and communication blackout since August 5, 2019. They criticized the mass detentions and forced disappearance of innocent Kashmiris, especially youth, by Indian security forces. Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan said that Pakistan is fully committed to the Kashmir cause and the just demand of Kashmiris for right to self-determination. Prime Minister himself is leading the campaign to expose Indian repressive policies and rampant human rights violations in IOJ&K. Through joint efforts of Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora, the voice of innocent Kashmiris has echoed in the hearings and resolutions in U.S. Congress. He stressed that U.S. must call upon India to end its human rights violations in IOJ&K and rescind illegal and unilateral actions taken on August 5, 2019. During the event, messages from President and Prime Minister were read conveying Pakistan’s full moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people in IOJ&K until the realization of their legitimate right to self-determination which was promised to them through UN Security Council resolutions. Special posters and photographs depicting the plight of Kashmiri people were displayed in the hallways of the Chancery. A documentary portraying the unabated and undeterred resilience of Kashmiri people was also screened during an event. The event was largely attended by prominent members of the Pakistani American and Kashmiri Diaspora, representatives of civil society, media organizations and journalists.
