PR No. 72 PAKISTAN INDEPENDENCE DAY – KASHMIR SOLIDARITY DAY Islamabad, 14 August, 2019

A solemn but impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held in Pakistan Embassy Dushanbe, Tajikistan to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day coupled with Kashmir Solidarity Day, says a press release received here today from Dushanbe,Tajikistan. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by hoisting of national flag by Ambassador Imran Haider. The ceremony was well attended by community members from all walks of life. Children from Pakistani community recited the National Anthem. The messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out by the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission, respectively. On the occasion, the Chancery building was adorned with Pakistani flags, special banners and pamphlets highlighting the patriotic zeal of Pakistanis and brutalities being perpetrated in the Indian Occupied Kashmir by the Indian occupying forces. Dr. Hyder Qurbanov, Incharge of Pakistan Study Centre and Head of Urdu Department, Tajik National University was special guest on the occasion. In his address, he spoke about the importance of Independence Day of Pakistan and the historical linkages and existing fraternal relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan. While addressing the community, Ambassador greeted them on the occasion and sensitized them about the critical situation prevailing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir and the ongoing atrocities and repression perpetrated by the Indian security forces. On the occasion, the speakers paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and leaders of Pakistan Movement who achieved independence of Pakistan despite all odds and opposition. They condemned the recent Indian act of depriving the disputed region of IoK of its special status which is a clear violation of international law and UNSC Resolutions, attempting to change the status and demography of the disputed area. They urged the international community to take cognizance of right of self-determination of Kashmiris and the Indian brutalities in IoK. During the ceremony, a special documentary on Pakistan was screened and national songs were sung by Pakistani community members.
