PR No.151 USF BOARD APPROVES AWARD OF CONTRACT TO TELENOR IN RESPECT PROJECT NG-BSD BAHAWALPUR LOT Islamabad: July 25, 2019

Federal Secretary Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui chaired 65th meeting of the Board of Directors (BoD) of Universal Service Fund Company (USF Co) on Thursday. Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Maj Gen (R ) Amir Azeem Bajwa was also present in the meeting. The Chairman extended full support to USF Co. and emphasised on the importance of the role played by USF Co. in the telecom sector. The meeting confirmed the minutes of 64th meeting of the Board of Directors of USF Co. An exchange of views also took place with primary emphasis on the upcoming project NG-BSD Bahawalpur Lot. The Board approved the award of the contract to Telenor Pakistan in respect of the project NG-BSD (Next Generation Broadband for Sustainable Development) Bahawalpur Lot. The meeting was apprised that the project will be completed in 18 months and it will benefit a total unserved population of approximately 1,381,499 covering 842 mauzas and an area of 22,330 Sq km. During the meeting, Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication was also briefed about the achievements of USF Co. and its upcoming projects.
