PR No. 209 “Pur-Azm-Awards-2019” on developing CVE Media-Products awarded to winners during the concluding ceremony of 3-Day CVE Media Training for University Students of media studies Departments Islamabad: March 27, 2019

The three-day capacity building workshop regarding CVE Media Product Development for the students of media studies, concluded simultaneously with the 3rd National Pur-Azm-Awards Ceremony 2019, here this afternoon. The joint-event was organized by Pakistan Peace Collective a research & communication project of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MoI&B). Among other tasks assigned to the project these specific activities aim to encourage and provide professional skills to develop products, with a deeper understanding of the role of communication in countering violent extremism. Besides individuals from various disciplines the students of Media Studies departments from various Universities of Pakistan participated both in the Award competition and the training workshop. Participants to the training workshop and winners to the awards ceremony were students, artists, and journalists from all over the Pakistan representing their respective regions, including Quetta, Karachi, Bahawalpur, Lahore, Malakand, Peshawar, Gilgit, Swat, Sargodha, Islamabad & Rawalpindi. Through the platform of Pur-Azm-Pakistan Awards, they not only got the opportunity to learn about development of media products but also shared it for competition on the subject of CVE (Countering Violent Extremism). Sixteen (16) winners of “Pur-Azm-Awards” Competition were awarded prizes for producing products in various categories under the themes of “Peace over Violence”, “Interfaith Harmony” and “Resilience against Violent Extremism” here in a ceremony held under the auspices of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. The categories for competition included Short Films, Documentaries, News Packages, Text Stories, Posters and Painting. In the video documentary category Ahsan Rana from Bahria University Islamabad and Aqsa Hadi from Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University Quetta shared the first prize while Naeem Abbas Naqvi from Riphah University Rawalpindi got the second and Abid Rizvi from SZABIST Karachi got third prize. In the category of Posters Shahbaz Ali from University of Sindh got the first prize, Muhammad Musa got the second prize and Muhammad Sabir Shah for third prize. In Short Films category, Hafiz Ali Yousaf from the University of the Punjab Lahore, Mr. Zaheer Mukhtar from Peshawar and Ali Khurram Khan received the first, second and third prizes respectively. In the category of News Package Noor ul Arifeen from SAMAA TV got first prize, Mr. Noor ul Huda from SAMAA Digital Karachi got second prize and Mr. Khalid ur Rehman from SAMAA Digital Peshawar got third prize. In the category of Text stories Ms. Sheza Mustasim got the first prize, Ms. Sundas got the second prize and Ms. Sidra from Lahore College Women University got third prize. *****
