To commemorate Pakistan Day, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Ukraine H.E. Maj Gen Zahid Mubashir Sheikh hosted a reception on March 25, 2019. The venue was decorated with traditional handicrafts and artifacts of Pakistan. To promote the soft image of beloved homeland, special documentaries were displayed which projected Pakistan’s enormous potential for trade, investment and tourism, says a press release received from Kyiv here today. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Mubashir highlighted the importance and significance of the day. He briefed the audience about Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and the sacrifices it made to ensure regional peace and security. They were also apprised about the recent deterioration in relations between Pakistan and India and the peace gestures that were made from Pakistan’s side to de-escalate and resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue. Ms. Hanna Hopko, the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Ukraine graced the event as chief guest. She congratulated the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day. Ms. Hanna also expressed her willingness and support for further promoting bilateral relations between the two countries. The event was attended by a large gathering of over 300 guests from all walks of life including members of Ukrainian Parliament, Government Officials, Ambassadors, Representatives of International Organizations, Media Personnel, and Academia as well as members of the Pakistani Diaspora. They were served with traditional Pakistani cuisine and entertained with live Pakistani music. *****
