PR NO. 187 Pakistan Embassy Celebrates Pakistan Day Islamabad: March 23, 2019

Pakistan Day was celebrated with great zeal and fervor in Denmark today. The flag-hoisting at the Pakistan Embassy premises was performed by Ambassador Syed Zulfiqar Gardezi. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of Pakistani community from Copenhagen and other parts of Denmark, says a press release received from Copenhagen here today. The ceremony commenced with Recitation from the Holy Quran and concluded with prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion by Ambassador Gardezi and Counsellor Ismat Hassan respectively. Popular Mili songs performed by students in colourful national attire, poetry recitation and well known melodies sung by members of Pakistani community drew an enthusiastic response from the audience. In his remarks on the occasion, Ambassador Gardezi highlighted the priorities of the Pakistan government, progress in Pakistan-Denmark relations and the various initiatives taken by the Embassy in recent months. He noted that Pakistan was a peace-loving country and a responsible member of the international community. Pakistan’s steadfast support to the Kashmir cause was reaffirmed. Ambassador Gardezi described peaceful, prosperous and independent nation as the guiding objective and quoted excerpts from the Resolution adopted in Lahore on 23rd March 1940 in this regard. The Ambassador stated the government viewed overseas Pakistanis as an asset; their love for the country was evident in the large turnout. He reiterated his pledge of equal treatment to Pakistanis living in Denmark. The ceremony ended with refreshment for the attendees. ***
