PR NO. 177 PAKISTAN DAY CELEBRATED IN JEDDAH Islamabad: March 23, 2019

The Consulate General of Pakistan and the Pakistani community based in Jeddah celebrated the 79th National Day of Pakistan with traditional fervour and resolve to make Pakistan a strong, vibrant, progressive and democratic welfare state, says a press release received here today from Jeddah. The Consul General Mr. Shehryar Akbar Khan hoisted the national flag of Pakistan in presence of smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan army and Pakistan Navy. In his address the Consul General Shehryar Akbar Khan congratulated Pakistani community on the occasion. The National Day of Pakistan is celebrated every year on the 23rd March to commemorate the achievement of the Muslims of Sub-Continent who passed the historic “Pakistan Resolution” on this day at Lahore in 1940 which culminated in creation of Pakistan after 7 years. He also paid tribute to the Pakistan defense forces for proving their mettle and courage in defending their motherland. He said that the new government in Pakistan has a focused upon the overseas Pakistanis. He mentioned the Pakistan Citizen portal which is newly initiated rapid grievance alleviation mechanism which aims to timely address the problems of the people. He also discussed the initiative of “Pakistan Banao” Certificate for the overseas Pakistanis and added that these Certificates provides the overseas Pakistani to directly participate in the development of their country. He said that 2.5 million Pakistanis people living in Saudi Arabia are dynamic part of this community and they have played a major role in promoting relations with Saudi Arabia. He told that the reduction the visit visa fee by 85% benefiting the Pakistan expatriate speaks large about the brotherly relations between the two countries. He told that the brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan can also be gauged from the fact that Saudi Arabia is the highest investor in Pakistan after CPEC project. Today, a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan is an important destination for foreign tourist and investors. The Consul General said that our community is our strength and the consulate is providing the best possible services to the community. Last year on average 2000 Pakistanis were provide services on daily basis. Dues of overseas Pakistanis worth Rs 80.6 million were recovered through labour courts while Rs. 40.3 million of Diyat were recovered through Sharia courts. Earlier Later, the Deputy Consul General Mr. Shaiq Bhutto read out the message of President and Consul Ms Fouzia Fayyaz read out the message of Prime Minister to the audience. The School children played national songs commemorating Pakistan Day and received applaud from the audience. Consul General also cut Pakistan Day cake with the children who had come to attend the event.
