President Dr. Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-i-Pakistan on HE Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, in an investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday. Prime Minister Imran Khan, Federal Ministers, Parliamentarians, High level Military and Civil Officers were also present on the occasion Earlier both leaders had delegation level as well as one to one meetings during which they discussed matters of mutual interest and bilateral relations. Both leaders talked about the similarities between the two brotherly countries including drive against corruption and efforts to uplift and revive their economies. They also discussed about the promotion of e-commerce. Speaking on the occasion, President Dr. Arif Alvi said that elevating the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia to the level of strategic partnership would pave path towards more extensive and tangible cooperation in diverse fields. He added that closer cooperation between the two countries is very important especially in the scenario of paradigm shift in global politics resulting in the emergence of new partnerships and its bearing on our region. The President emphasized that Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with Malaysia and both countries enjoy close and cordial relations based on the solid foundations of a shared faith, culture and heritage. He added that it is our endeavour to further strengthen the existing excellent bilateral relations, both in strategic and economic terms, to the mutual benefit of the people of our two countries in the years ahead. He stressed that regular exchanges at the highest level are indispensable to provide strategic direction to relations and boost the bilateral cooperation. Later, a banquet was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in honor of the Prime Minister of Malaysia and his delegation.
