The 3rd meeting of 8th Wage Board Award for Newspaper Employees held here today at PID Headquarters Islamabad. Chairman of the 8th Wage Board Award Mr Justice Hasnat Ahmad Khan presided over the Meeting. Nasir Chishti from Daily Jang. Bakhat Zada Yousafzai from Daily Aeen, Peshawar. Shoaib Uddin from Daily Nawa-e-waqt. Shahzada Zulfiqar from Member Executive Council of PFUJ, Baluchistan and Muhammad Nawaz Raza PFUJ (Dastoor group) from Daily Nawa-e-waqt attended meeting as members of the 8th Wage Board Award. Waseem Abbas Sial Secretary to Chairman Wage Board was also present in the meeting. The learned members representing the employers failed to attend the meeting for the third time consecutively. Consequently, it was pointed out that having failed to attend three consecutive meetings without the permission of the Board, the said learned members have made themselves liable to be proceeded against under Rule 5(2) of Working Journalist (Wage Board) Rules 1960 .It was, therefore, resolved that the said matter be brought into the notice of Government for necessary action, if deemed fit. It was further resolved that pending the said proceedings, the aforesaid learned members be provided another opportunity to defend the prayer of interim award by submitting their reply to the memorandum of interim award apart from attending the forthcoming meeting of the Board. The matter of passing interim award was also discussed in detail, however, the members in attendance prayed for further time for producing attested documents in support of their claim. It was further resolved that the Chairman would write letters to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Division and Finance Division of Government of Pakistan Seeking Data about increase of cost of living from 2001 to 2019. The next meeting of the Board will be held on 25th February 2019 at PID Headquarters Islamabad. *****
