She offered Darood and Salam at Rawdha Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) and prayed for the Peace, Integrity and Prosperity of the country at Masjid Navi (PBUH).

Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker of the National assembly of Pakistan on her way back to Makkah Al Mukarramah briefly interacted with the media at Jeddah Airport. Says a press release received from Jeddah here today.

She said that the Parliament is actively contributing to the strengthening of all the important institutions but since it is a time consuming process, it will take time. The people of Pakistan have given mandate to the present government, and she is sure, the government will deliver and steer the country out of the crisis it had inherited, she added.

On a question, about the unity in coalition partners, Dr. Fehmida said that the Prime Minister was elected unanimously and she also got 2/3 majority, as such there is complete harmony among these parties for empowering democracy.

She said that the parliament is supreme and she has taken all necessary steps to strengthen it by framing the rules of procedure, setting up of the standing committees and nomination of the leader of opposition.

On another question, the Speaker said that all the issues are discussed in the Parliament. Only two sessions of the Parliament have so far been held in which debate on corruption, law and order, Damadola and other issues was made, whereas the Budget session was exclusively reserved fro budget only, she added.

Dr. Fehmida said that a record number of 229 members spoke n the budget which is a manifestation of the active involvement of the members in the Parliament business.

The Speaker said that the government is cognizant of the challenges like water and power shortage, food insufficiency, judicial crisis, some of which are of international nature, but these are being looked into and the Prime Minister himself sits in the Assembly and responds to the questions.

The speaker lauded Pak-Saudi relationship and thanked King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Khadim-ul-Alharamain Al-Sharifain for helping Pakistan and its people in all difficult times.

Dr. Fehmida also thanked Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh bin Humaid, President Shoora for the generous hospitality he extended to them.

She said that she will again visit the Kingdom alongwith a Parliamentary delegation and will also invite members of the Saudi Shoora to visit Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza, Interior Minister, Government of Sindh remarked that the law and order situation in Sindh has considerably been improved. The crime rate has gone down and further reduction in the street crime, is expected, he added.

Later Dr. Fehmida Mirza visited Makkah Mukarramah and performed Umrah. She offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan.

3500 WORKERS TO GET EMPLOYMENT IN KOREA: KHURSHID SHAH
Islamabad 11th July, 2008.

3500 workers have passed Korean Language Test for employment in Korea and will start to go from next month. This was stated by the Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistani Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah during meeting with Korean Ambassador Shin Un, who called on him here today.

The Minister said, government is committed to alleviate poverty from the country and has planned to provide employment the maximum skilled and unskilled youth in Korean and other foreign countries.

The Minister also urged to enhance cooperation between both the countries in other different fields like agriculture, fisheries and other technical fields.

The Korean Ambassador said that Pakistani labour force is very hardworking and working honestly in Korea. Korean government is providing equal benefits to the local and Pakistani labour.

The 3 years stay of Pakistani workers has been enhanced to 5 years as a result their economic conditions will further improve, the Ambassador added.

Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Manpower, Malik Asif Hayat and other high officials of the Ministry were also present on the occasion.

POPULATION EXPLOSION IS EATING UP THE FRUITS OF PROGRESS: THE SPEAKER NA.

Islamabad 11th July, 2008.

The Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza in her message on World Population Day has said that population control was a key to raise the living standards of people in developing countries. She said that the population explosion in the 3rd world countries was straining the limited resources of these countries and eating up the fruits of progress there.

She said that in many cases the ratio of increase in National incomes of poor countries was nullified by the higher ration of population increase. She said that unbridled population increase is putting great pressure on social amenities in Pakistan.

The speaker urged the people to pay heed and contribute maximum resources for the education of their wards and families. The Speaker said that there was the need for forming wise policies by the Govt. in collaboration of the masses and religious people to get better results.
